AS I WAS WITH MOSES

Text: Joshua 1:5 ---There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

I.  IF GOD IS FOR YOU WHO CAN BE AGAINST YOU? (Romans 8:31-39)

That is known as a rhetorical question that demands an obvious answer.  In this case it is a loud "no one!"

Of course there is uncertainty out there in the world.  In the days and years to come anyone who takes a stand for the Lord  is going to meet with opposition and perhaps have their health or life threatened.  Don't be afraid---there shall not any man be able to stand before the all the days of thy life.

Proceed forward with the confidence that comes from knowing the truth of that statement from the inside out.
1 John 4:4---greater is He that is in you............

II.  AS HE WAS WITH MOSES SO HE WILL BE WITH THEE

Not only is God for you and, consequently, noone can stand against you but also He will be with you.

A. With you in the trials of life---1 Corinthians 10:13

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for thou art with me (because my Father is the biggest dude in the valley).  Do you remember those days not too long ago when you thought that about your earthly father.        You just knew everything would be OK as long as Dad was around.

B. With you on the mountain tops of life---don't forget Him when you are looking down from the lofty peaks.  It is so easy to do---just ask King David.  It was the spring of the year, he was in the prime of life, everything was going well in the kingdom and he forgot about God in his sin with Bathsheba.

III. GOD WILL NOT FAIL YOU

"FAIL"--7503  raphah (raw-faw'); primitive root; to slacken (in many applications, literal or figurative): KJV-- abate, cease, consume, draw [toward evening], fail, (be) faint, be (wax) feeble, forsake, idle, leave, let alone (go, down), (be) slack, stay, be still, be   slothful, (be) weak (-en). See 7495.

You will find, unfortunately, in life that there are a lot of fair weather friends out there.  When the going gets tough folks get going---the other direction sometimes.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:21).  Jesus is that friend, the one who said, "Greater   love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

As I already said, other friends will fail you, employers will fail you, your health will fail   you, the world  will fail you, technology will fail you (if you don't believe that just    ask someone from NATO), your church may fail you, your preacher may fail you---oh, but  praise God, Jesus will never fail you.

IV. GOD WILL NOT FORSAKE YOU

"FORSAKE"--5800  `azab (aw-zab'); a primitive root; to loosen, i.e. relinquish, permit, etc.: KJV--   commit self, fail, forsake, fortify, help, leave (destitute, off), refuse, X surely

Think about that for minute with me.  It means literally that he will never turn you loose, that he will not relinquish (give over to the power of another; yield to the control of another).

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand (John 10:29).  Why can't anyone pluck us from His hand---because He   will not let us go.  He will not give us over to the power of another or yield control.
